As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.
Adelaide United’s Emily Condon was proof of that in the 4-2 New Year’s Day triumph over Perth Glory.
With Adelaide leading 3-2 in sweltering conditions at Coopers Stadium, Condon stood over the ball nine minutes from the end.

She stepped up and curled a stunning free-kick into the top corner of the net, channelling her inner David Beckham to seal Adelaide’s second Liberty A-League season.
“I’m absolutely thrilled,” Condon told Paramount+ post-match as Adelaide ushered in 2022 with three points on Saturday.
“Honestly it’s something I practice at the end of every training session, working on my free-kicks.
“To just pull it off in a game like that, it’s what I’ve been training for. It was amazing.”
Chelsie Dawber set the tone for Adelaide with a opening-half double against the visiting Glory, who were back in action for the first time since December 10 due to border restrictions and rising COVID cases.
Stand-in Adelaide captain Matilda McNamara was also on target for the sixth-placed Reds in an entertaining contest.
“I thought we were good enough for the three points today and I’m glad that’s the result that came to be,” Adelaide head coach Adrian Stenta said.
