Ahead of Monday night’s Dolan Warren Awards, we asked the fans to vote for the winner of the Julie Dolan Medal.
And according to the public, a rising star of the women’s game is set to claim the W-League’s highest individual honour.
Canberra United’s Ellie Carpenter was the most favoured player among the fans to claim the Julie Dolan Medal as the W-League Player of the season.
The 18-year-old claimed 37% of the votes, narrowly edging out Westfield Matildas teammate and Perth Glory superstar Sam Kerr who earned 31% of the total.
The teenager enjoyed a breakout season in the W-League, playing 10 matches for Canberra United and scoring two goals.
Carpenter showed off her versatility with coach Heather Garriock utilising the Matildas defender in a number of roles throughout the campaign to great effect.
Her consistent displays in the nation’s capital also earned her a nomination for the NAB Women’s Young Footballer of the Year alongside Melina Ayres and Kyra Cooney-Cross.
