New Zealand World Cup star Simon Elliott, 36, has signed with the Wellington Phoenix on a temporary deal.
The All Whites midfielder, who showed out again on home soil in the internationals against Honduras and Paraguay last month, signed, pending an international clearance, with his hometown club on Monday.
Elliott has been clubless since he was dropped by Major League Soccer team, San Jose in March.
He has been signed as cover for Tony Lochead or Toto, both injured players.
The Phoenix are seventh in the competition and play their next game against the Brisbane Roar on Wednesday evening in Wellington.
