Phoenix set to pass one million fan mark

This Sunday night’s game against Brisbane Roar will see the Wellington pass 1,000,000 fans to a Phoenix Hyundai A-League match.

Since theclub’s inception in 2007, 998,631 fans have attended a Phoenix match in the competition.

The 1,369th fan through the gates this Sunday night at Westpac Stadium will be the one millionth fan.

Phoenix General Manager David Dome said the milestone will be reached at the annual kids go free match.

“It’s a nice coincidence that our one millionth fan will coincide with our annual kids free match,” he said.

“Families and kids make up almost 50 percent of our match day crowd, so to have the milestone fall on that game has a nice synchronicity to it.

‘’We will be awarding a Huawei prize pack and a lifetime membership to the Phoenix to the 1 millionth fan as they come thru the gates.’’

Huawei New Zealand Director of Corporate Affairs Andrew Bowater said Huawei was thrilled to be able to mark the event.

“To celebrate this wonderful milestone for the Club we’re putting up some of our latest Huawei gear  – a Huawei P8 lite smartphone and our brand new Huawei mediapad,” he said.

“We’re really pleased we can be part of this special event – and the pack makes a pretty cool Christmas present for one lucky fan!’’
