Phoenix ace vows it’s ‘our time now’

Wellington Phoenix hotshot Roy Krishna believes the Kiwi club is primed for a march up the ladder following Saturday’s 2-0 away win over Central Coast.

Krishna extended his sparkling goalscoring run to four goals in three games with a composed opener just after half-time in Canberra.

The Fijian flyer also notched a clever assist as Hamish Watson secured consecutive victories for the undermanned visitors.

“We’re working hard in training and finally (the goals are) coming,” Krishna told Fox Sports.

“We can see that hard work pays. We dug deep and at first the results for us weren’t coming (but now) it shows.

“It’s our turn now.”

Ernie Merrick made five changes to the side that beat Newcastle Jets 2-0 last week with the likes of Watson, Lewis Italiano and Ryan Lowry earning chances in the absence of Wellington’s internationals.

Krishna believes the newcomers have given Merrick some decisions to make for next weekend’s hosting of Melbourne Victory.

“It’s up to Ernie but credit goes to the young ones, they stepped up today,” the attacker said.

“They deserved to play and they did a good job.”
