Perth’s ‘panel-beater’ eyes crunch clash in WA

Perth Glory’s rugged defender Dino Djulbic has labelled this weekend’s showdown with rivals Brisbane Roar at nib Stadium as a “six-pointer” with the WA outfit eyeing off a place in the Hyundai A-League top three.

Roar sit in third spot with 29 points, just two points ahead of Glory who are in fifth spot.

A win for Perth could see Glory rise to as high as third on the ladder, a position Djulbic says is more than achievable.

“Third spot is available, it’s a six pointer, we’re playing at home and hopefully it’s three points for us” he told the club’s official website.

Glory heads into the match brimming with confidence after a 5-0 thrashing of champions Adelaide United in Round 19.

Last time Glory hosted the Roar, almost a year to the day, the match ended in a nine-goal thriller, with Perth thrashing Brisbane 6-3.

“Hopefully we can score six, but not concede three,” Djulbic joked.

“I think it’s more about winning the game at home, in front of our own crowd and that’s what we got to focus on.”

Djulbic was praised by the Fox Sports commentary team at the weekend for his hard-nosed approach.

When asked by reporters this week about his physical style of play, the 33-year old didn’t shy away.

“There’s no hiding behind it, I’m a panel beater,” he said.

“I kick people for a living, you know that’s what I pride myself on and hard work and being physical.

“Some people like it, some people don’t , the strikers don’t like it that’s for sure,” he added with a smile.
