Perth Glory v Central Coast Mariners: match preview

Perth Glory and Central Coast Mariners will be desperate for the three points – for very different reasons – when the two clubs clash in Gosford on Saturday night.

Glory – minus skipper Diego Castro for the remainder of the season – will go all out for victory as they aim to keep their top four hopes alive.

The boys from the west haven’t won any of their last four games in the Hyundai A-League, their worst run of form in over two and a half years.

For the Mariners, they simply must win if they are any chance of closing the gap on the clubs above them if they are to avoid the wooden spoon.

And Alen Stajcic’s troops also have the motivation of trying to avoid an unwanted slice of Hyundai A-League history.

The have lost their last 10 Hyundai A-League games in succession. An 11th consecutive defeat would equal the longest losing run in competition history of the New Zealand Knights back in 2005.
