Perth Glory FC can confirm it is in the final stages of completing a thorough and transparent process in its bid to appoint a new Chief Executive, to steer the club forward in season 11 of the Hyundai A-League.
More than 50 applications were received from candidates based in the Middle East, the United States and across Australia.
Many of the candidates brought a wealth of experience and skills in sports administration, ranging from AFL, cricket, football and swimming.
The selection panel, spearheaded by the AFC 2015 Asian Cup CEO Michael Brown, identified a list of prospective candidates, all of whom have since been interviewed.
“We have interviewed eight high calibre candidates. Ultimately we have been looking for football people committed to Perth Glory’s long term success” Brown said.
“Now we’re hopeful of making a CEO announcement before the end of the month with a view to have that person here as soon as possible” he added.
Part of Brown’s role also includes recommending changes to the club’s processes and procedures.
“There’s no doubt these have been challenging times for Perth Glory and they require great leaders and patience, but I’m comfortable the club has both” he said.
Brown said he was invited by Sage, who expressed his commitment to the club and wanted to lay a foundation to ensure the club’s future.
“I was honoured to be asked by Tony and I wanted to help, and felt I had something to offer” Brown said.
“Let’s not forget that members are also central to the club’s success and the fact that nearly 1300 of them have jumped back on board since memberships went on sale two weeks ago, is a good sign the club is on the right track” he said.
Brown also urged members, fans and sponsors to support Perth Glory as it prepares for another exciting Hyundai A-League campaign.
“The reality is Perth Glory is an integral part of the future of sport in WA, so a healthy Glory means a healthy game”.
