‘Prince of Perth’ discusses imminent overseas move alongside fellow Aussie after fuelling shock rout

Perth Glory young gun Jaylan Pearman addressed his end-of-season move to English club QPR after inspiring Saturday night’s stunning 4-1 demolition of Adelaide United.

Pearman scored twice as Glory defied the odds in their final home game of the Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 18-year-old bagged a seven-minute brace to help Perth celebrate just their third win of the season to climb off the foot of the table.

In February, Glory football director Stan Lazaridis revealed EFL Championship side QPR had agreed to sign the teenager for “$350-400,000”.

After Saturday night’s big win at HBF Park, Pearman discussed the prospect of playing alongside fellow Australian and former Perth Glory youngster Daniel Bennie at QPR.

“Obviously moving to the other side of the world without your family, it will be hard,” Pearman told Paramount+.

“But to have a close friend over there helping me, it’s always helpful.”

While Perth have struggled in 2024-25, it has been a breakout season for Pearman.

The Australia youth international has scored four goals and supplied three assists.

“Obviously not the season we would’ve preferred but to have my breakout season here with my home fans and hometown club and just to give back to them in the last home game of the season, it’s unreal feeling,” Pearman said. “They deserve it.”

Pearman’s exploits this season have led to the nickname of ‘The Prince of Perth’.

“Well the first time I heard it was after the Auckland game. Everyone’s been calling me it at training so it’s a nice feeling,” he smiled in response.

Meanwhile, Glory boss David Zdrilic heaped praise on Pearman in what was likely his final home game for Perth.

“He is a great kid. He has come a long way this season,” Zdrilic told reporters.

“He was playing NPL at the start of the season and he was sometimes being pushed off the ball. His quality is always there but the strength.

“He has come into the team and straight away looked at home. But now every game, he is taking it to another level.

“Don’t forget I’m putting him as a number 10 or a striker next to Taggs (Adam Taggart). He is playing different rules and he actually scored the two goals from the left.

“He is just very versatile. A great kid and just happy for him.”
