Sydney FC are aiming to futher future-proof their Hyundai A-League dominance by signing utility player Paulo Retre to a two-year extension.
Retre has started nine, and appeared each of the Champions’ 11 matches in 2019/20, which has seen Steve Corica’s side open up a nine-point lead at the top of the Hyundai A-League ladder.
Until the current campaign, the 26-year-old had made 22 starts for the Sky Blues across two seasons since joining from his hometown club Melbourne City.
Retre started 2019/20 filling in for Rhyan Grant at right-back, before moving to left-back to deputise for Michael Zullo. An injury to Brandon O’Neill has seen Retre play the last four matches in central midfield.
“This is an incredible environment in which to play football and wonderful club to play for,” Retre told sydneyfc.com
“I’m delighted to be staying for another two years after this season and looking forward to what we can continue to achieve.
