Sydney FC have bolstered their trophy-chasing Isuzu UTE A-League squad with the signing of exciting winger Alex Parsons from Brisbane Roar.
Parsons makes the move to Sydney on a two-year deal, filling the void left by Elvis Kamsoba following his off-season switch to Iran.
The 22-year-old Parsons was a shining light for Roar over the past two A-League Men seasons, scoring five goals and tallying three assists across 28 appearances.
“I’m extremely excited to be signing for Sydney FC,” said Parsons, after Tuesday’s arrival of Slovakia international Robert Mak.
“This is a massive club, with some great players and I believe I can take my career to the next level.
“Everyone has been extremely welcoming to me and it’s been fantastic to have experienced the family culture this club is famed for.
“Already I can tell there is a real hunger amongst the squad to win trophies this season.”
Parsons spent a season with Central Coast Mariners in the 2019-20 Youth League before returning to Queensland via the Roar.
Having impressed in Brisbane’s NPL QLD side, he was rewarded with a debut against Melbourne City in December 2020.
In 2021-22, Parsons scored two goals in 12 ALM matches for Warren Moon’s Roar, including a goal against Sydney in May.
“Alex is the type of player who will get our Members off their seats,” Sydney head coach Steve Corica said.
“He is attack minded, he likes to go past defenders and get balls into the box, and he will give us more options in the final third.
“Every time he has played against us he has caused us problems and I’m delighted we’ve been able to secure his signature.”
