The independent Match Review Panel has convened to consider incidents stemming from Round Five of the Hyundai A-League.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini – convened to consider the following incidents from Round Five of the Hyundai A-League:

1.The incident involving Nigel Boogaard (Adelaide United FC) in or around the 90th minute of Adelaide United FC-s game against Newcastle Jets FC on Saturday afternoon. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as the player was issued with a direct red card. The MRP confirmed that Nigel Boogaard will serve the Minimum Sanction of one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension.

2.The incident involving Marc Warren (Sydney FC) in or around the 25th minute of Sydney FC-s game against Melbourne Victory FC on Saturday evening. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as the player was issued with a direct red card. The MRP confirmed that Marc Warren will serve the Minimum Sanction of one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension.

3. The incident involving Tiago Calvano (Sydney FC) in or around the 79th minute of Sydney FC-s game against Melbourne Victory FC on Saturday evening. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident pursuant to clause 9.1(c)(i) of the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations (Regulations). In reviewing the incident during this afternoon-s meeting, the MRP took into consideration submissions lodged by Sydney FC. The MRP determined that the Player had committed the offence of “Assault on a Player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball)” against Archie Thompson and proposed a sanction of the Mandatory Match Suspension plus one (1) additional Match. This is the minimum sanction for such an offence under the Regulations.

In addition to the above, Tiago Calvano (Sydney FC) has been cited by FFA for an incident involving contact with the Referee in the 25th minute and the matter has been referred to a Disciplinary Committee hearing.
