The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Adam D’Apuzzo and Matthew Breeze – convened on Monday, 9 April 2018 to consider an incident involving Alex Rufer (Rufer) in or around the 90th minute of Wellington Phoenix’s Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season Round 26 Match against Melbourne Victory on Sunday, 8 April 2018.
The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Rufer was issued with a direct Red Card by the Referee.
The MRP determined that Rufer had committed the offence of “Serious unsporting conduct”.
The MRP confirmed that Rufer will serve a suspension of one (1) match, being the Minimum Sanction for the offence.
