The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Adam D’Apuzzo – convened on Monday, 4 February 2019 to consider the below incidents arising in matches in Round 17 of the Hyundai A-League.
Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar FC
The MRP considered two incidents from the match between Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar FC played on Saturday, 2 February 2019.
Ken Ilso LARSEN
The first incident involved Ken Ilso Larsen (Larsen) of Adelaide United in or around the 10th minute of the match.
The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Larsen was issued with a direct Red Card by the Referee.

The MRP determined that Larsen committed the offence of “Serious foul play (e.g. when challenging for the ball).” The MRP confirmed that Larsen will serve a suspension of one (1) match, being the minimum sanction for the offence.
Jamie YOUNG
The second incident involved Jamie Young (Young) of Brisbane Roar FC in or around the 64th minute of the match.
The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Young was issued with a direct Red Card by the Referee.
The MRP determined that Young committed the offence of “Serious foul play (e.g. when challenging for the ball).” minimum sanction for the offence is one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension. MRP proposed a sanction of three (3) matches, being the minimum sanction for the offence plus two (2) additional matches.

Under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations (the Regulations), Young may refer the matter to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for hearing and determination of the sole question of either:
- what additional sanction should be imposed above the minimum sanction (inclusive of the Mandatory Match Suspension which must be served), applying the Range at the Table of Offences; or
- whether Exceptional Circumstances apply and therefore a sanction outside the Range at the Table of Offences should be imposed, provided always that the Mandatory Match Suspension must be served.
Young has until 2:00pm (AEDT) Tuesday, 5 February 2019 to advise whether he wishes to appeal the three (3) match sanction proposed by the MRP.
