He has just secured his short term future with one of the Hyundai A-League’s new clubs but outgoing Central Coast utility Matthew Osman is focused on chasing glory for the Mariners.
Osman is a foundation member of the Mariners squad but has signed on for two years with the new Gold Coast franchise.
While admitting the move is a ‘big relief’ Osman said his priority for the next six months was performing at his best for the Mariners.
He is expected to get plenty of game time when Central Coast tackles Perth at Members Equity Stadium on Saturday.
“It was good to get it sorted out,” Osman said his contract with Gold Coast.
“Now that’s done, my priority is the Mariners. I’ve had four wonderful years at the club and want to leave on a good note.”
Osman believes the fourth-placed Mariners have a strong enough squad to go one better then last season and win the A-League grand final.
He wants to be part of that success.
Osman has been unable to cement a starting spot in Lawrie McKinna’s squad this campaign but is determined to keep fighting.
He is one of several players in contention to replace left back Pedj Bojic against Perth.
David D’Apuzzo and Chris Tadrosse are also in contention.
McKinna will not finalise his side until late on Friday.
Striker Matt Simon (groin) and Nik Mrdja (knee) have both battled injuries this week but McKinna expects both to play.
Simon will start up front alongside Dylan Macallister and Sasho Petrovski.
Mrdja will start on the bench and come on midway through the second half. The Mariners are desperate for a win after a frustrating 2-1 defeat against Melbourne last start.
“We’re going over there confident we can get a positive result,” McKinnna said.
