Adelaide United

Craig Goodwin

No prizes for guessing this one.

With his brace and assist in the win over Central Coast Mariners, Craig Goodwin became the first Adelaide United player to be directly involved in three goals in a match since Bruce Djite in April 2016.

Brisbane Roar

Jamie Young

It’s not often a goalkeeper concedes twice and can still be considered a legitimate contender to be named man of the match, but that’s exactly what Jamie Young managed against Perth Glory.

Brisbane Roar’s number one made a round-high six saves, and has now posted 13 in total from his last two away trips.

Central Coast Mariners

Andrew Hoole

Almost seven months after his last appearance, Andrew Hoole needed only 45 minutes to make his case for more minutes under Mike Mulvey.

The winger, who has battled back from a broken foot, contested seven duels, made five passes into the final third and created a scoring chance in limited time on Sunday.

Melbourne City

Luke Brattan

A tough night for Melbourne City didn’t stop Luke Brattan from showcasing his class against Sydney FC.

The midfielder made 15 passes into the final third and completed his 56 total passes at 91 per cent accuracy.

Melbourne Victory

Georg Niedermeier

Melbourne Victory’s key German recruit is finding his feet at the back.

He was crucial to the club’s first clean sheet of the campaign with five clearances and a team-high 94 per cent passing accuracy in the narrow win over Newcastle Jets.

Newcastle Jets

Ronald Vargas

Newcastle’s failure to get on the scoresheet against Victory happened despite Ronald Vargas’ best efforts.

The 31-year-old Venezuelan carved out an incredible nine scoring chances, the most of any Hyundai A-League player since Thomas Broich laid on 10 in a meeting with Perth Glory in 2013.

Perth Glory

Andy Keogh

Another stirring Perth performance saw several players stand out on Saturday night, but Andy Keogh was the man that made three points safe.

He netted the opener, created another scoring chance and finished with four shots on target, a high for Round 4.

Sydney FC

Adam Le Fondre

City had no answer to Sydney FC’s supreme poacher at the start of the weekend.

Free-scoring Adam Le Fondre was on target twice and provided two chances for team-mates, while the 20 duels he contested illustrated a willingness to work hard.

Wellington Phoenix

Steven Taylor

Cast into several tricky situations at the back, Steven Taylor still found a way to provide some moments of leadership during Wellington Phoenix’s loss to Western Sydney Wanderers.

The defender was involved in nine duels and, at the other end, managed to register two shots on target.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Jordan O’Doherty

Talk about taking your chance.

Jordan O’Doherty came into Western Sydney’s starting XI away to Wellington and didn’t disappoint, completing 33 of 35 passes and scoring the sealer with the last of his four shots.
