With a surname like Barbieri, it’s no surprise this Melbourne Victory youngster is making waves in the Westfield W-League.
At just 15, you can’t help but be impressed by what this gifted attacking midfielder is producing for the Victorian club.
Barbieri made her W-League debut this season and has gone on to amass 12 games for Victory.
She has scored two goals so far for the season, in the process becoming the fifth-youngest player in W-League history to find the back of the net.
For someone so young, Barbieri hasn’t looked of place against players far more experienced than her, involved in 19 duels while her passing and creativity is excellent.
It’s no wonder Barbieri is considered as one to watch in the race for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year.
While she’s playing in the same Victory side as ex-Matildas skipper and FFV Hall of Famer Melissa Barbieri – the two are of no relation.
But it appears the new ‘Bubs’ is destined for big things as well!
Outside of football, Barbieri is about to head into year 10 at Maribyrnong College, juggling her studies with her burgeoning football career.
It’s definitely time to get excited about this Victory midfielder with bucket-loads of flair.
