One to watch: Angela Beard

A product of the Queensland Academy of Sport, Beard has stepped up to the Westfield W-League with aplomb.

With Roar losing Matildas defender Laura Alleway to Melbourne City for this campaign, the teenager has helped fill the void with a string of fine displays.

Representing Australia at youth level and a member of the Young Matildas squad, she’s certainly a bright prospect for the future.

And there’s plenty to admire about Beard’s game.

She has bucket-loads of composure for someone so young, is strong in the air and her distribution is exceptional.

It’s no wonder Beard is one to watch in the race for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year.

So far this season she has played in five matches and has been involved in 31 duels and won five key tackles.

Beard has made 100 passes as well, with a superb accuracy rate of 81 percent.

Get excited about this resourceful Roar defender. She is one youngster to keep an eye on in the race for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year award this season.
