An unexpected treat! Brisbane-s battle with Perth Glory is brought forward to Wednesday 24th November. Secure your tickets today!
Changes to the fixture list mean that Brisbane fans are getting an early Christmas present at Suncorp, as the clash with Perth Glory, originally scheduled for the 8th December has been brought forward to 24th November. So, mark the date in your diary, buy yourself a ticket, and get ready to, once again, be the extra man as Ange Postecoglou-s side continue their title push.
When the sides met at nib Stadium back in Week 9, Roar came out on top, thanks to a slice of luck and a never-say-die attitude from their players. Out-of-form Perth Glory had certainly matched Roar, and, as the clock ticked down, seemed certain to take a point after a goal from each side in the first six minutes had left the scores level.
However, deep into stoppage time at the end of the match, Perth midfielder Todd Howarth-s attempted clearance deflected off Roar-s Rocky Visconte and ricocheted into the back of Tando Velaphi-s net. It was tough on Perth, but, one again, illustrated Roar-s insatiable will to win and their never-say-die attitude.
Since then, the Queensland side have hardly looked back and have regularly blitzed opposition teams with their stylish brand of fluid, attacking football.
Perth Glory on the other hand, went on a painful 11-match winless run where, at times, they looked frankly hopeless. Still, that inspiring Robbie Fowler hat-trick in the win over Melbourne Victory has restored some much-needed self-belief to players and fans alike.
And they-ll certainly need to utilise some of that self-belief if they are to come away from Suncorp Stadium with anything other than the all-too-familiar feeling of defeat.
If a look at the league ladder suggests this should be a home banker, than the head-to-head between the teams does little to lift Glory-s hopes of picking up a surprise win either.
Of the 16 meetings between the sides since the birth of the Hyundai A-League, Roar have won ten, with Glory picking up just three victories. In Queensland, Perth have only ever won against Roar once. However, that solitary victory came the very last time they visited.
Back in September last year, goals from Branko Jelic and Adriano Pellegrino contributed to a 4-2 win which launched a run of four games that brought three wins and a draw for Glory in the early stages of their Hyundai A-League 2009/10 campaign. What they wouldn-t give now for a similar result and run off the back of it.
Roar fans, last time Glory were in town, they marched away with a win. While this season, your team is looking in much better shape, they still need you to get yourself down to Suncorp Stadium and fill it with colour and noise. Grab a ticket for this midweek encounter and see if your team can do the double over Glory!
