Adelaide United are appealing Hiroshi Ibusuki’s red card in the entertaining 2-2 draw with Sydney FC in the Isuzu UTE A-League over the weekend.
‘WE HAVE TO LOOK AT CHANGING THE RULE’: ADELAIDE TO SEEK EXPLANATION FOR RED CARD
Japanese forward Ibusuki was immediately shown a red for fouling Sydney midfielder Anthony Caceres as he slid for the ball five minutes before half-time in Sunday’s clash at Allianz Stadium.
Closer inspection showed only minor contact with Caceres’ foot but the video assistant referee (VAR) upheld the on-field ruling and the Reds were reduced to 10 men with more than a half to play.
Amid the fallout and contentious nature of the red card, Adelaide have submitted an ‘Obvious Error Application’ to Football Australia (FA).
Adelaide are awaiting FA’s outcome following its Match Review Panel meeting later on Monday.
