Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold admitted his side were ‘sloppy’ in patches but was happy with their overall performance In Saturday night’s win over Wellington Phoenix.
The Sky Blues overcame a spirited second-half performance from Wellington to secure a 4-1 win at Westpac Stadium, with Bobo netting a hat-trick.
Despite the scoreline, Arnold cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines in the second half as Phoenix gradually worked their way into the contest.
“It’s about motivating and driving the players. I thought at times we were sloppy in the game,” Arnold told Fox Sports.
“We gave Wellington too much space, too much time. Our structure with the ball sometimes was out.
“It was a good performance and one that I know we’ll get greater and greater at.”
Sydney FC remain five points clear on top of the ladder ahead of second-placed Newcastle Jets and have lost just one game so far this season.
But regardless of their imperious form, Arnold insists his side won’t be slackening off over the holiday period.
“We don’t have a Xmas the players. It’s all about winning. We’re into training on Boxing Day, I’ll give them Christmas Day off only,” Arnold said.
“It’s all about Perth Glory next week at home and continuing our home form at Fortress Allianz.
“Our holiday is in June. It’s not in December. We make sure the players do everything right.”
