An investigation into an alleged incident involving Besart Berisha of Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United’s Nigel Boogaard has found no conclusive evidence, says Damien de Bohun, Head of Hyundai A-League.
The matter came out of the Friday night match at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide, won 1-0 by the Roar.
“The FFA investigation of this alleged incident followed an objective process which took into account all available evidence, including the representations of the players as well as other club officials,” said de Bohun.
“In addition, all available video footage from the match was reviewed, as well as consulting with the match officials at the game.
“The review of the match footage showed that there was no conclusive evidence to warrant a referral of this incident to a full disciplinary hearing.
“The review of the reports from the referee, match commissioner and Match Review Panel member also did not mention this alleged incident, and our subsequent discussions on this matter were also inconclusive.
“Since this determination Adelaide United now has now indicated that it has new evidence to be considered in relation to this alleged incident. The FFA will review this new submission as a matter of urgency.
“However, in the absence of objective and verifiable evidence, such matters can become extremely difficult to resolve when it’s one player’s word against another.”
