Sydney FC playmaker Milos Ninkovic described teammate Rhyan Grant’s performance as “unbelievable” in the Sky Blues’ latest win, a 3-1 victory over Phoenix on Thursday night.
On a bare Allianz surface, the pair shone for the Sky Blues to continue the incredible unbeaten run and extend their lead to 12 points ahead of the remaining four fixtures in Round 19.
Sky Blues’ hot streak continues against Phoenix
Right back Grant opened the scoring with a header and after Bobo finished off an incredible team goal, the Serbian expertly slotted past Glen Moss for the third after the break.
But Grant’s incredible attacking display caught the eye of many once again.
“He was unbelievable,” Ninkovic told Fox Sports when asked about Grant’s all-action display, vowing to give his Fox Sports Man of the Match award to his teammate.
As for himself, the Serbian World Cup player added: “When I feel fresh, I can do everything.
“But when I tired, like last week [against Roar] …
“But tonight we showed a great performance, we played very well and to be honest Wellington played good and should score one more.”
Sydney FC are now 12 points clear of Victory in second, who face the Jets in Newcastle on Monday night.
Though Ninkovic wasn’t entirely happy with the display, he conceded they were the team everyone now wants to beat.
“We need to play like the first half. Keep the ball and create chances and we scored three goals.”
Sydney FC now prepare for the Sydney Derby at ANZ next Saturday.
