Jets dealt cruel blow as striker suffers ACL injury ahead of season opener

Newcastle Jets have confirmed striker Alexis Collins will miss the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season after suffering a knee injury in pre-season.

“That’s a wrap for me. Unfortunately i’ve joined a very long list of women who have ruptured their ACL. Something I never thought I would be a part of,” Collins said via a statement on Instagram.

“In a season that I had so much hope for I am so devastated to be missing out.

“These next few months are going to be difficult and confusing but I am going to give my all because I don’t want to just get back to where I was, I want to be better.

“But for now i’m happy to be the girls number 1 fan.”

A Newcastle local, Collins made her breakthrough for the Jets in 2024 having come through the club’s academy.

Tipped to play a more prominent role this campaign, Collins put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal during the off-season.

The Newcastle Jets kick off their Ninja A-League campaign on Saturday, October 17 with a home clash against Perth Glory.
