Faghani to referee 2026 Australia Cup final as VAR introduced for first time

Football Australia has confirmed A-Leagues referee Alireza Faghani has been selected as the lead match official for the 2026 Australia Cup final between Melbourne Victory and South Melbourne FC.

“Alongside Luke, Claire, Caitlin, Shaun and Maddy, this team represents the very best of Australian officiating.

“Their appointments demonstrate that officials from all backgrounds can reach the top matches through hard work, ability and the right attitude.
