Newcastle Jets’ improved form since Carl Robinson’s appointment will be put to the ultimate test when they host in-form Perth Glory on Saturday afternoon.
The Jets beat Central Coast Mariners in the week after Robinson’s appointment and have since drawn their last two matches under the Welshman against Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory.
But the visit of defending Premiers Perth Glory is a big step-up in quality for the resurgent Hunter club.
Tony Popovic’s troops have gone 10 games in the Hyundai A-League without defeat, including last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Brisbane Roar which saw Glory jump to second on the ladder.
Perth will start as the favourites to add to their unbeaten run but Newcastle are playing with renewed confidence and could have new signing Bernie Ibini in their squad for the first time after joining the club on Monday.
