Newcastle Jets have signed young gun Alex Nassiep on a scholarship deal for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
The towering goalkeeper arrives in Newcastle after Western United’s Club Participation Agreement (CPA) was placed in conditional hibernation for the upcoming campaign.
Previously described as a “terrifying sight” for opposition strikers due to his height and speed off the line, the 19-year-old was rewarded with a scholarship contract in January having graduated from Western’s academy.

“I’m really excited to have signed with the Newcastle Jets,” said Nassiep.
“I can’t wait to get started out on the pitch with Jess (Vanstrattan), Mark and the rest of the coaching staff.”
Nassiep is Newcastle’s sixth scholarship signing this off-season after Xavier Bertoncello (scholarship), Lucas Scicluna (scholarship), Christian Bracco (scholarship), Max Cooper (scholarship) while he is the second new goalkeeper to join the Jets alongside James Delianov.
The Jets have also recruited Alex Badolato, Max Burgess, Joe Shaughnessy and Joel Bertolisio.
