Sydney FC-s interim CEO Stefan Kamasz says an announcement on a new Sky Blues coach is “not that far away”.
Sydney began the search for a new coach in February after it was announced double-winning coach Vitezslav Lavicka was set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Now with the off-season well underway Kamasz believes an announcement could be made in the next two weeks.
“We hope that in the next seven to 10 days we will be in a position to tell the members and the fans where we are going with the coach.” he said.
“There are some negotiations that are going on at the moment but obviously they are in confidence, so we-re not that far away in my opinion.
“We have been talking to a number of players with a view to signing them down the track but ultimately that depends on who the coach will be, so we-ve had to put some of those discussions on hold until the coach is signed but we-re not that far away in my view.”
Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to take over Sydney, and the former national team coach has remained tight-lipped on his future.
