New Adelaide United signing vows ‘passion’

Ersan Gülüm has begun life as a Red and the experienced Australian-born, Turkish defender is adamant he can help restore Adelaide United to former glories.

GULUM PROMISES PASSION

“I play with passion, I always have,” declared Gülüm following his first day of training with his new team-mates.

“I come from a big club with passionate fans, so if you don’t give 100 per cent on the field you’ll hear about it.

“All I can tell them is that when I’m on the field they’ll know I’m playing for them and the club.

“The fans this year should get excited about the club itself, because the club is heading in the right direction.

“Last year wasn’t the best year for the club, but this year it’s going to be really good with new coaches, new transfers, we’re going to be successful.

“And they should jump on board now getting their memberships because they’ll be watching a few good games this year,” he promised.

NEW BEGINNINGS

After a breakthrough Hyundai A-League championship in 2015/16, Adelaide United endured a challenging 2016/17 campaign, narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon.

But Gülüm believes new boss Marco Kurz is building a squad capable of challenging for honours again.

“Adelaide is a big club and obviously it’s got history,” he said.

“I’m here to help the club again to be successful.

“Yes it’s going through a rebuild at the moment, but it’s going through a good rebuild, the transfers that the club have made so far are really good.

“And I’m here to help the club and the team be successful again.”
