“I will work as hard as I can to recover as quickly as possible to come back to the pitch”. That was the message from Nani as the Melbourne Victory marquee begins his long road to recovery.
Nani will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 Isuzu UTE A-League season after the Portugal and Manchester United great ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in last week’s loss to Brisbane Roar.
The 36-year-old had made 10 A-League Men appearances without scoring for last season’s semi-finalists, while he also featured in the Australia Cup.
“I want to thank everyone who has sent me messages of support this week,” Nani wrote, with Victory set to face Adelaide United in Saturday night’s Original Rivalry at Coopers Stadium.
“I am really sad and frustrated to have suffered this injury.
“There is nothing I wanted more than to help our club recover from a tough start to the season and also repay our Melbourne Victory fans for the amazing affection they have shown me and my family since we moved to Australia.
“I can assure all of you I will work as hard as I can to recover as quickly as possible to come back to the pitch.
“See you soon.”
