Football Federation Australia (FFA) and NAB, together with Sydney FC, are proud to announce Terry Antonis as the October nominee for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2014/15 Award.
Antonis has begun the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season in stellar fashion playing every minute of Sydney FC’s four matches to date and scoring against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday afternoon at Allianz Stadium helping his club to their best start to the competition ever.
The 20-year-old had his strong form rewarded on Wednesday when he was selected in the 23-man Socceroos squad that will face Japan later this month.
Antonis was ecstatic to be nominated for the prestigious award.
“It’s a real honour to win the NAB Young Player Of The Month award for October,” said Antonis.
“I’m really enjoying being back and playing for such a great club, the team I grew up supporting and the atmosphere around the club is fantastic.
“I’ve got to thank my team mates for helping me win this award because they have been excellent so far this season and have given me so much great support.”
This is the second time that Terry Antonis has been nominated for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award having also been nominated in March this year for the 2013/14 edition.
Terry is in line for the title of NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2014/15 which will be announced at the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League 2014/15 Awards Night on Monday 11 May.
NAB NSW Retail GM, Paul Juergens, said NAB was delighted to see the Young Footballer of the Year Award unearth the future stars of the game.
“We congratulate Terry Antonis on his nomination and look forward to watching his growth and development on the football field in the coming years” Mr Juergens said.
“We are also pleased to recognise Terry‘s junior club, Marconi Stallions, and hope that our support will help the club continue to develop the game at a local grassroots level.”
NAB has generously donated a $1,500 equipment pack and $1,000 in a NAB Community Saver Account to Terry’s chosen junior club.
The overall winner of the 2014/15 NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award will receive a $10,000 personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.
“As a supporter of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, NAB is proud to play an important role in recognising and rewarding the stars of tomorrow. We hope to one day see these nominees kitted out in the famous green and gold representing the Socceroos”, Mr Juergens said.
Each month representatives from the football media and the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-23 players in the Hyundai A-League during that period.
