After some stunning displays, left-back Corey Brown is deservedly one to watch in the race for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award.

The 22-year-old has been at Roar since 2011 and now is enjoying his best season in the Hyundai A-League this campaign under the tutelage of John Aloisi.
He has had to wait for his opportunity at the club over the last few seasons, with ex-Caltex Socceroo Shane Stefanutto also on Roar’s books.
But after Stefanutto retired at the end of last season, Brown is now undoubtedly the first-choice left back and has taken his game to a new level.
His performance in shutting down Melbourne City wingers Bruce Kamau last Friday night was fantastic and a major factor in Roar’s 1-0 win.
Brown, the son of former Socceroo striker Rod, is your real modern-day full back.
He not only is strong defensively but has great engines to get forward with overlapping runs and putting crosses into the box.
Playing every minute so far this season as Brisbane have moved into second spot, Brown has formed an excellent combination with Thomas Broich on Roar’s left flank.
With nine crosses, five successful dribbles, 24 ball recoveries and 13 tackle wins, Brown has been impressive on so many levels.
And the QAS and AID graduate has also provided an assist, with a pinpoint cross for Jamie Maclaren’s goal against Perth Glory in Round 4.
In a side with so many excellent, experienced players, Brown is somewhat of an unsung hero in Roar’s surge up the ladder.
However, he was first chosen in last round’s team of the week.
