PREVIEW: Victory v Phoenix

ALL THEIR BIG GUNS BACK

Victory were beaten 1-0 by Brisbane Roar last weekend but  were without Besart Berisha, James Troisi, Marco Rojas and Jai Ingham on international duty.

But the quartet have all returned to Melbourne this week allowing the club to get back to some normality with their training routines.

“Our last couple of weeks have been very disjointed with the split round and the international week, so this week has been about getting back to routine,” Muscat said.

“We want to get back on track, and we’ve only had the back end of this week to do that in terms of our routine and the way we want to go about things.

“The next three weeks will be based on getting that final game here against Central Coast back to our best football.”

Besart Berisha produced an audacious piece of skill to set up Fahid Ben Khalfallah's goal in Melbourne Victory's win over Perth Glory.

STARTING XI YET TO BE DECIDED

Of last week’s missing quartet, Berisha was the earliest to return to Melbourne, while Troisi, Rojas and Ingham each played on Tuesday night.

Rojas had the heaviest workload, playing two full games for New Zealand within four days.

“With Marco playing both of the games, we gave him an extra day to recover,” Muscat said.

“Jai got back in and got back into training immediately.  He showed a great appetite to get back here and get back to training very quickly.

“James performed very well as we saw on Tuesday night.  He went there with a spring in his step, and he’s certainly maintained that upon his return.”
