Mr Versatile set to start against Perth Glory

Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold will throw Rhyan Grant into the crucial midfield battle against Perth Glory on Friday night as the Sky Blues’ boss aims to make history with another three points on the road.

Mickael Tavares (groin) and Terry Antonis (knee) both won’t travel for the match which the Sky Blues must win to keep their slim Premiers’ Plate hopes alive.

The versatile Grant has made just a handful of appearances this season but Arnold has no hesitation throwing him against the likes of Nebojsa Marinkovic, Rostyn Griffiths and Richard  Garcia in Glory’s engine room.

“When I re-signed him we had discussions that he would be a right-back but he missed a lot of the pre-season and missed a lot of the tactical sessions at the start of the year,” Arnold said of Grant on Thursday.

“But I’ve seen enough of Rhyan over the years, especially since I’ve been at the club that he can fill any role and fill it really well.

“He did well when he came on there for us last week. He runs and has a lot of energy in midfield and is a ball winner. He’ll do a good job.”
