Milner, Ings on target as Liverpool beat Adelaide

Liverpool have ended their two-match Australian tour with a 2-0 win over Adelaide United with two of their new summer signings scoring the goals.

The tireless James Milner and late substitute Danny Ings with the second half goals to confirm the win for the Reds.

After Friday night’s 2-1 over Brisbane Roar, Liverpool struggled to break down their A-League opponents in front of around 53,008 fans at a chilly Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide keeper Eugene Galekovic kept out Adam Lallana’s brilliant long-range shot on 58 minutes with a fine save.

But the EPL outfit made the breakthrough on 66 minutes with Milner recording his second goal for the Reds downunder.

Liverpool's XI against Adelaide United.

Jordan Henderson fed Jordan Ibe who motored down the right side of Adelaide’s defence and his low cross was turned in by Brendan Rodgers’ summer signing.

United’s Tarek Elrich had a great chance to equalise minutes later but his shot from distance brushed the post.

But new signing Ings opened his account when he was put through before rounding Galekovic and coolly slotting home to settle the result 2-0.
