His hamstring may have given him plenty of grief this year, but Perth Glory midfielder Liam Miller insists those troubles are behind him.
Liam Miller may have spent longer than he wanted on the sidelines but after one game back, he insists his hamstring and back problems are behind him and that Perth-s destiny is in front of him.
“The hammy and back were great,” Miller said.
“I was concerned going into the game after being out for a few weeks, but the hammy and back came through the game. No problems at all.
“From what I know everyone came through the game OK, I think Jacob (Burns) and Bas (van den brink) are both good and came through it well.”
While all the Glory stars came through the game fine, Miller was just happy they escaped their match with the Heart unscathed, especially after what was a tight first half, with few chances for either side.
“Around halftime there wasn-t that much in it, but we didn-t have too many chances then the second half Smeltzy got the hat-trick so that helped,” he said.
With Wellington the challenge becomes different than it was against a youthful Heart side. The Phoenix have experience across the park and play to rigid, hard-to-break structures.
They also haven-t lost a game where they have scored the first goal, this season, not that it bothers Miller.
“It will be a real-tough game against Wellington, who are well organised, we-re confident we can turn them over, but there isn-t much point talking about it, we have to go out and do it,” he said.
“I think we have overcome a lot of obstacles. We don-t want to go a goal down, but I can-t see it being a problem if we do.”
As for where he believes his teammates can draw inspiration from, Miller was quick to point out the support the club have received from their legion of fans.
“The fans have been great week-in-week-out they are the extra man and make their voice count,” he said.
“Hopefully we can get an even bigger crowd at this weekend-s game.”
