Perth Glory’s Liam Miller has received a one-match ban after the independent Match Review Panel (MRP) found the midfielder denied Archie Thompson a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Miller received a straight red card from referee Chris Beath after bringing down Archie Thompson outside the area, when the Melbourne Victory striker had a clear run at goal.
In reviewing the incident, the MRP found that Miller committed the offence of “Denying the opposing team a clear goal-scoring opportunity” against Thompson and proposed a sanction of one match, the minimum sanction for such an offence under the A-League Disciplinary Regulations.
Miller and Perth Glory have until midday Tuesday to either accept the decision or to refer the matter to a hearing by the FFA Disciplinary Committee on the grounds of Exceptional Circumstances.
