Melbourne Heart have announced the signing of 25-year-old Italian Andrea Migliorini on a short-term contract. The Italian was revealed at the Club’s Family Day event yesterday, giving fans and members exclusive access to the Red and White’s newest squad member.
Migliorini, a central midfielder, has signed on a three-month basis as an injury-replacement player for Orlando Engelaar, who sufferred a broken leg in pre-season.
Migliorini joins most recent signings Michael Mifsud and Patrick Kisnorbo as well as off season recruits Harry Kewell, Iain Ramsay, Tando Velaphi, Massimo Murdocca, Robbie Wielaert and the returning Aziz Behich.
Migliorini, who played club football in Slovenia last season and youth football with Serie A outfit Udinese, was spotted by former Melbourne Heart midfielder Vince Grella when he was trialling for Hyundai A-League side Sydney FC during its tour of Italy.
Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John Aloisi believes Migliorini will provide excellent cover in midfield.
“Losing Orlando was a blow but adding Andrea as a central midfield option, as well as recruiting the experience of Patrick Kisnorbo and Michael Mifsud, ensures we’ll have depth to challenge this season,” Aloisi said.
“Andrea is an excellent passer and reader of the game, so I have no doubt he’ll make a positive impact.”
