Mifsud focussed ahead of Melbourne Heart FC debut

Maltese international Michael Mifsud, fresh from his 100th international appearance with Malta, is set to debut for Melbourne Heart FC against Perth tomorrow.

Maltese international Michael Mifsud, fresh from his 100th international appearance with Malta, is set to debut for Melbourne Heart FC in the Club-s Round Three Hyundai A-League clash against Perth Glory this Sunday.

Mifsud reached the milestone 100th appearance for his country on Friday 11 October, marking the occasion with a goal against Czech Republic stalwart Petr Cech, in a 4-1 loss against the Czechs in World Cup Qualifying.

“It-s always nice to score and be on the score sheet, especially against a big player like Petr Cech, but that-s over now and I-m looking forward to my next game here against Perth,” Mifsud said.

While Mifsud missed Melbourne Heart-s opening two matches – against Melbourne Victory (0-0) and Central Coast Mariners (2-2) – the number 11 returned to training with the Red and White this week.

“It-s my second home here, I-m loving it here – I-m enjoying myself with the team and everybody so I am excited for my first game,” Mifsud said.

Mifsud said he would be looking to translate his scoring record on the international stage to his new Club.

“That-s my job on the pitch [scoring goals],” Mifsud said.

“We-re a team, we like to win – everyone likes to win I guess – so everybody does his best; everybody gives his 100 per cent and hopefully we get a good result.”

Melbourne Heart FC travels to Western Australia tomorrow ahead of Sunday-s match at nib Stadium against Perth Glory.
