Melbourne Victory have bolstered their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season with the signing of striker Sophie Harding.
The 27-year-old joins Jeff Hopkins’ side after spending the 2025/26 campaign with Fort Lauderdale United FC in the USL Super League in the United States.
Born in England, Harding emerged through the NPL system in New South Wales, representing Manly United before joining Newcastle Jets in 2020.

Moving to Western Sydney two years later, Harding bagged 18 goals in 58 appearances for the Wanderers with her excellent performances during the 2023/24 season earning her the 2024 Julie Dolan Medal.
“Sophie brings real experience of the A-Leagues to the Women’s playing group, and it is great to be adding such a sought-after option to the team’s attack,” Hopkins said.
“She returns to Australia with the benefit of a season overseas, challenging herself playing in America, and a hunger to make her mark at Melbourne Victory.”
Harding said the opportunity to return to Australia with a club targeting silverware was a major factor in her decision.
“Of course, it’s exciting to be back in Australia and back in the A-Leagues, but I was adamant to go to a club that was nothing short of professional and that I believed could win trophies.
“Melbourne Victory ticked both of those boxes, and in the short time since arriving at the club, it has felt like a family; I’ve received nothing but warm welcomes.

Harding’s arrival follows the signing of Alicia Woods, Ayana Aoyagi and Angela Beard, while Claudia Bunge, Chelsea Blissett, Nicki Flannery, Courtney Newbon and Zoe McMeeken have also re-signed.
The new Victory striker will now link up with Hopkins’ squad as preparations continue for the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season, with Victory opening their account away to Harding’s old side Western Sydney on Saturday, October 17.
