Melbourne Victory have accepted the two-match sanction handed down to striker Besart Berisha by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, the club confirmed in a statement on Thursday night.
The sanction relates to an incident late in the first half of last weekend’s match against Adelaide United at Adelaide Oval, involving Berisha and a match official.
In the statement, Berisha said: “Firstly, I would like to apologise for my actions in Adelaide.
“It is never OK to touch a match official and for doing so, I am sorry.
“I did not mean any harm and I’m thankful to have received a fair hearing.
“My focus now is training hard and preparing for my return.”
Berisha will miss Melbourne Victory’s upcoming fixtures against Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers.
He’ll return for the club’s Round 6 clash against Brisbane Roar at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, November 11.
At the tribunal hearing, the Victory star was also issued a suspended sanction of a further two matches to be served in the event that he commits another offence against a match official during the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season.
