Victory appoint experienced Spaniard as Muscat’s assistant

Melbourne Victory have confirmed the appointment of Carlos PĂ©rez SalvachĂșa as the club’s new assistant coach to Kevin Muscat. 

The 45-year old Spaniard joins the Hyundai A-League champions with more than 20 years of experience as a professional coach in his homeland.

The UEFA Pro licence holder arrives from Spanish La Liga side Real Valladolid CF, but has also recently worked with Villareal CF and CD Guadalajara. 

Carlos was also an integral part of the coaching staff at the Real Madrid CF academy for over six years and oversaw the development of several high-profile players during his coaching tenure. 

Working in both senior head coach and assistant roles, he won four league Championships and achieved promotion twice during his time in Europe. 

“I’m thrilled that Carlos chose to join us in Australia and I’m very much looking forward to working alongside him,” Muscat said.

“He’ll be a great addition to our team and I know the players and the staff will benefit enormously from his extensive experience in Spain.

“We’re excited knowing what Carlos will bring to the club.”

On his move Carlos said: “The opportunity to work overseas and coach in Australia was one that was very interesting to me. 

“After speaking with Kevin I liked the direction of the club and the club’s football philosophy. 

“I see it as a very good chance to develop my coaching further and I hope that I can contribute to the ongoing success of the club.”

Carlos begins work immediately and will be in the technical area for the friendly against Port Melbourne on Tuesday night.
