Western United will be out for revenge when they face Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Friday night.
Mark Rudan’s side will still be stinging after their 2-1 loss to City at GMHBA Stadium in Round 3 where United failed to capitalise on their one-man advantage, conceding a late winner to Jamie Maclaren after Harrison Delbridge was sent off with half an hour to play.
City and United sit in second and third position on the table respectively heading into Round 13 with United trailing their Melbourne rivals by two points, but both sides come into the clash in patchy form.
United were humbled by a red-hot Wellington Phoenix outfit last weekend, while City held a player advantage over Sydney FC for more than an hour, after a Rhyan Grant red card, but the ten-man Sky Blues still came out on top over Erick Mombaerts’ side.
United continue to spark rivalries across the Hyundai A-League as each round passes by and, after their fiery clash with City in Round 3, this fixture is sure to hold a bit of feeling as both sides battle it out for second place on the table.
