Melbourne City and Adelaide United have the chance to land an early psychological blow before next week’s FFA Cup 2019 Final when they meet at AAMI Park.
In a quirk of the draw, City and the Reds do battle in Melbourne on Sunday, before squaring off for Australia’s biggest cup trophy in Adelaide on the Wednesday.
Erick Mombaerts’ City started their campaign with a hard-earned draw in the Melbourne derby, playing some excellent football but unable to find the end product.
Adelaide, who will be without defender Ryan Strain through suspension, will still be smarting from their late 3-2 defeat to Sydney FC in the season-opener last Friday.
