Melbourne City star sets quirky Hyundai A-League record

From early prodigy to experienced international, there is little Dario Vidosic hasn’t seen and done in the Hyundai A-League.

But 11 seasons on from an eye-catching debut campaign, the 30-year-old is still charting new territory.

Vidosic’s brilliant brace in Melbourne City’s big weekend win against Adelaide United saw him become the first player to score for five different clubs.

And he did it in style, with the first a blockbusting strike from an audacious angle.

It was a classy way to secure a unique place in history by a player whose career has spanned several Hyundai A-League eras, beginning with a debut goal for the then-Queensland Roar in Round 1 of the 2006/07 season.

Further spells with Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers were wedged in between overseas stints, before the attacking midfielder returned for the current campaign to make Wellington Phoenix his fourth club.

He’s since moved on to City and, more than just enjoying what’s already his second-most prolific season in Australia, the 23-time Caltex Socceroo is offering plenty all over the pitch.

Vidosic’s tackle success rate of 79% is third best among players to have attempted over 20 challenges, while he’s one of only four to boast at least 20 clearances and 20 efforts at goal.

And having hit the second most shots for City since arriving in January, Warren Joyce will be hopeful of witnessing more scoring milestones from his new signing.
