Melbourne City midfielder Luke Brattan says his side must stamp out any timidity following Sunday’s tricky 2-1 win over Wellington Phoenix.
After dominating the first 45 minutes at AAMI Park, City allowed Wellington back into the game after the break as the hosts narrowly held on to three points.

Brattan targeted City’s tendency to withdraw as an area for improvement.
“I think we play backwards a little bit too much in that period (of opposition control) and we stop playing the way we want to play,” Brattan told Fox Sports.
“We allow teams to come on to us.
“That’s something we’ve got to look at and we will sort it out soon.”
City now switch their attention to Wednesday night’s Westfield FFA Cup final against Sydney FC, where John van’t Schip’s side will attempt to win the club’s first piece of silverware.
Brattan believes there is no tougher task than having to overcome the Hyundai A-League’s unbeaten leaders.
“I think Sydney are the best team in the league at the moment. The table doesn’t lie,” he said.
“It should be a great game.”
