Melbourne City have re-signed 38-year-old goalkeeper Jamie Young for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Young put pen to paper on a fresh deal after playing every minute of City’s 2023-24 campaign – his first at the club.
At 38, the 228-game Isuzu UTE A-League veteran is the oldest active player in the competition after Milos Ninkovic and Danny Vukovic (both 39) retired at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
“I’ve enjoyed playing for Melbourne City and when the Club came to me about re-signing, I knew it was a good decision to make,” Young said.
“I’ve always said to myself that I wanted to play as long as I could and compete at the highest level possible, and at City, that is a reality.
“I’m looking forward to helping the team compete again next season.”

City director of football Michael Petrillo said Young’s leadership on and off the pitch was a vital asset for the club as they extended the 38-year-old’s stay for another campaign.
“On the pitch, Jamie is an impressive shot-stopper and has been one of the best in the league for many years. Equally important though is what he offers off the pitch as well,” Petrillo said.
“Jamie is someone who brings great leadership and experience, and he is someone who always drives the highest standards. He is a great mentor, and someone for his younger teammates to look up to. We’re delighted to have him sign on for another season.”
