Melbourne City farewell five players

Melbourne City have moved to refresh the squad that finished one match shy of the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final by releasing five players.

Nick Fitzgerald, Manny Muscat and Bruce Kamau are among the first-team regulars to depart, while Ruon Tongyik and Christian Cavallo have also left.

Fitzgerald, Kamau and Tongyik have all already been snapped up Western Sydney Wanderers.

Malta international Muscat made over 30 appearances for the club since arriving from Wellington Phoenix before the start of the 2016/17 Season.

Cavallo, a former Melbourne Victory youth player, made only a brief substitute appearance last term.

“The Club would like to thank the outgoing players for their contribution and professionalism during their time at Melbourne City FC and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours,” a statement read.
