Melb City farewell academy product Colakovski

Melbourne City have announced the departure of academy graduate Stefan Colakovski after seven years with the Isuzu UTE A-League club.

Colakovski first joined City in 2015 and broke into the senior team four years later, however, the 22-year-old striker has farewelled the Grand Finalists.

A two-time Under-21 North Macedonia international, Colakovski was part of City’s historic Championship in 2020-21 and back-to-back Premierships in 2021 and 2022.

“What a journey it has been. From sitting in the stands watching Melbourne Heart, to joining the Academy at 15 to playing a role in the club’s first ever Premierships, Championship and Champions League campaign,” he said.

“I only look back on my time with City with great pride.

“To our fans, thank you for your support over the years. I always gave my all every time I put on the City shirt and you will always hold a special place in my heart.

“City has been and will be a family to me forever.”

Colakovski made 53 senior appearances for City across all competitions, scoring four goals.

He found the back of the net in City’s maiden AFC Champions League group-stage campaign this term.

“We’d like to thank Stefan and his family for all they’ve contributed to the club over the years, and we wish him all the best in the next step of his football journey,” City said in a statement.
