Central Coast coach Lawrie McKinna believes his team is ‘a big chance’ to get a result against Melbourne in the Hyundai A-League blockbuster on Friday night.
McKinna said his team was starting to hit its straps after a stop-start first half of the season and Saturday night-s 3-0 whitewash against Adelaide was the perfect preparation for the top of the table showdown at the Telstra Dome.
“We love playing down there, it-s a huge game,” he said.
“We-re going down knowing what to expect. We can get a result.”
McKinna was delighted with the comfortable win against Adelaide and said the performance of strikers Sasho Petrovski, Matt Simon and Dylan Macallister was again a feature.
“They were outstanding,” he said.
“They do a lot of defensive work, it gives us great options. Defenders hate playing guys with huge workrates.”
Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar said his team needs to regroup quickly after a disappointing week.
“We-re back to a semi-normal routine now, the next few weeks are crucial for us,” he said.
“There-s been a lot of pressure on the players but I can-t complain with the effort. We-ve always struggled with Central Coast. They came out and tried to hit us hard.”
